Notts Alldayer Review

We got a nice write-up of the gig we did a week or so ago at Bunkers Hill, Nottingham.

Mascot Fight hit the stage and Sean has clearly been waiting a long time to get up and play and is somewhat tired and emotional- he's a loveable rogue, mind, and a dreamy eyed singer just adds to Mascot Fight's slightly dishevelled charm- Sam loves this band... we exercise a 'no bands that played last year play this year' rule but it fell by the wayside for Mascot Fight as they provided us and all the other bands on the bill with a full set of working drums and loads of other kit for the day... and perhaps they've become our mascot, our talisman, if you like... any road up, they were a fucking triumph: stirring songs expertly played to within an inch of their lives, funny inbetween songs talk and BLOOD- Sean seemingly shredding his fingertips as he made his guitar chime... there's something delightfully right about Mascot Fight, they play soft beautiful songs LOUD and often fast and made this 40 year old lummox feel like a loose-limbed 15 year old at his first gig... I nearly attempted a stage dive... 'City Bones' is right now the greatest song in the world even though I can only half guess what it's about

Huw Stephens played our track 'Trawler' from our new EP on his BBC Radio 1 show last night (Wednesday), so cheers for that, Huw!

I suppose this is (again) the point where we should say to everyone 'Go and e-mail the show saying "HEY! I LIKED THAT MASCOT FIGHT SONG! CAN YOU PLAY IT AGAIN?" thanks'. But, again, we'd never do that. Or you could, you know, like last time, do that. Up to you. No pressure, yeah?

In other news, it would be nice if you could be a dear and pop over to Dandelion Radio and vote for us in their Festive 50 HERE!

Cheers, m'dears!

Thanks to everyone who was involved in putting on the Indiepop Alldayer in Nottingham on Sunday, and thanks to all that came to see the bands. We had a great time playing, and hopefully it won't be that long until the next one. Luckily, I have no blood borne infections so anyone who took to the stage after us should be fine after my guitar/hand/blood mis-hap!

In other news, Steve Lamacq played our track 'Reunion Is A Laugh' from our new EP on his BBC 6Music show on Monday, so cheers Steve!

Hello,

Earlier today, before our gig with The Twilight Sad at The Bodega Social in Nottingham, myself and Tom popped in to BBC Radio Nottingham to have a brief chat with Dean Jackson for The Beat. You can hear the results of this HERE! Our section starts at 3.21.50 on the iPlayer, although you should have a listen to the rest of the show too!
